Love the article! I also noticed the media is trying to trivialize women's interest in this. To me it's quite logical that young women as a demographic would be concerned with healthcare reform and legislation especially since their rights to bodily autonomy is under attack!

This article is brilliant! So on point. Thank you for putting into words our inchoate feelings on Luigi and all he symbolizes.

This is the best piece I have read thus far about LM. I hope the author will mail it to him. I imagine it would be a welcome read for him and do much to boost his spirits.

Wow thank you for your kind words! I'm not sure this would make it past the censors if I were to send it though 😅

True but it never hurts to try. I believe they will return anything that can’t be delivered so at least you should have an answer. I know they return unopened mail that doesn’t fit their guidelines so I assume if they read it and won’t give it to him they are required to send it back? Not sure but try it anyway!!!!

Wonderful explanation about how it's not just appearance! It's his energy, his calm self-assurance, the courage of his (alleged) deed... he's not registering in our minds as a "bad boy," but as a warrior.

I literally did do a Renaissance painting of him, which I’m auctioning to pay for someone’s healthcare costs: https://open.substack.com/pub/newyorkgold/p/luigi-merch-soars-and-documentary?r=duuyu&utm_medium=ios

I'm very grateful for Luigi, who attended an impromptu keyboard recital I gave on December 4th, and I recall he was at the venue between 6pm and 6 am.

Great article! As far as my feelings for Mangione go, I find them complex. A lot of things didn’t add up about this and I do believe he’s innocent, but I also believe the character Luigi Mangione feels a little *too* manufactured. This was a sophisticated hit and somehow he pulled this off with the practiced ease of a trained assassin, in the middle of NYC no less. Someone so photogenic and wholly masculine, as if he was written in by an author of psychological thrillers. I’ve seen this character before. He was Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver, Light Yagami in Death Note, Johnny in the Dead Zone, Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment ect.

What I would give for all men to respect women and for all women to have reason to respect men.

Amen. If that were our reality there wouldn't be nearly as much female obsession over Lulu (though still support I hope)

Everyone roots for the vigilante in stories and myth. Batman, Robin Hood, Daredevil. He represents rebalancing a power dynamic, reminding powerful people that they aren't untouchable.

Great read! About his haircut - there was discussion on @toure TikTok account (I think) where a former prison inmate was saying that his haircut shows how much respect he has in prison. The guys that give haircuts will take their time & do a good job if they respect you.

Wow.

This article was adroitly written & very resourceful! This needs more attention & read! I have been such an Luigi advocate from the start! He has the potential to be freed by both innocence (people thinking he didn’t do it) or guilty (but freed thru jury nullification). It’s easy to dismiss women’s feelings for him as a mere penchant for his good looks but most people I know that adore him feels this way because he seems to be an affable guy who cares about the world around him & was a deep thinker. His popularity doesn’t surprise me! Check out my TIK TOK theories on why I think he’s innocent & being framed!

Incredible article. You said it all. You wrapped up every aspect of this weird phenomenon but the killer point is because he has no voice we can project onto him anything we want him to be. 👏👏👏

Thank you! Yes I think it's important in general for us to recognise our own delusions – not judge them, as that's what causes denial, but just be aware.
